Protalogic ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our mobile application Furl (the "App"). We comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations in the regions where we operate. By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Furl is designed to be private by default. The links, posts, notes, categories and tags you save are stored locally on your device. We do not require a Furl account, and your library is never uploaded to our servers. If you choose to sync, a copy of your library is kept in your own personal cloud storage (iCloud or Google Drive) as described in "Sync Across Devices" below. We have no access to it. If you delete the App without sync or a backup, your locally stored library is deleted with it, so we recommend keeping sync on or exporting a backup first.
We collect only what is needed to run the App: • Content You Save — Links, text snippets and notes you share to Furl are processed on your device to fetch titles, thumbnails and previews from the source website, and to tidy up titles so they are easy to read. • Device Information — Basic information such as operating system and device type may be processed by our service providers (e.g. the app stores and subscription infrastructure). • Google Account (Android, only if you connect Google Drive) — When you connect Google Drive for sync, Google shares your account email address with the App so it can show which account is connected. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. • Purchase Information — If you subscribe to Furl Pro, our subscription partner processes your purchase. We never see your payment card details. • Usage & Quality Analytics — We collect anonymous, aggregated usage and diagnostic data (such as which screens are opened, which features are used, and crash or error signals) through Google Firebase Analytics, solely to understand how the App is used and to improve its quality and reliability. This data is not used to identify you, and it never includes the content you save — your links, titles, descriptions, notes, tags and search terms are not captured.
Furl can rewrite messy link titles into short, clear ones. This happens entirely on your device: on supported iPhones and iPads it uses Apple Intelligence, on supported Android devices it uses Google's on-device Gemini Nano model, and on other devices it uses simple built-in rules. Your titles, links and other content are never sent to us or to any third-party AI service for this. You can always edit a title yourself, and titles you edit are never changed automatically.
Furl can keep your library the same on all your devices by storing one encrypted sync file in your own cloud storage: • iPhone and iPad — The file is kept in Furl's private iCloud container in your iCloud account. Sync is active when iCloud is turned on for Furl, and you can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings. • Android — Only if you choose "Connect Google Drive", the file is kept in the hidden app-data folder of your Google Drive. Furl asks only for access to its own app-data folder: it cannot see, open or change any of your other Drive files. You can disconnect at any time from Furl's Backup screen or your Google Account settings. The sync file contains your saved links, titles, notes, tags and categories (including hidden ones) and is encrypted with AES-256 before it leaves your device. It is stored by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; Protalogic has no access to your iCloud or Google Drive and never receives this file. To remove the sync file, delete Furl's data in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage, or in Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → Furl → Delete hidden app data.
Furl opens your saves inside the App where it can: videos, audio and posts through each platform's official embedded player (for example YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, Spotify or SoundCloud), images in Furl's own viewer, and documents in a document viewer. Other pages open in your device's in-app browser (Safari or Chrome). To decide how to show a link, Furl fetches that link's page or file directly from the website it came from, the same as opening it in a browser. Nothing about it is sent to us. Embedded players, viewers and pages are provided by those platforms and load their content directly from them, so their own privacy policies and cookies apply while you view them. On Android, documents may be displayed through Microsoft's or Google's public document viewers, which receive the document's link to show it. You can always choose "Open in…" to view the original in its own app or browser instead.
We may use the information described above for the following purposes: • To provide and maintain the App • To fetch link previews, tidy up titles and organize your saves • To sync your library across your devices, when you use sync • To process and manage your subscription • To improve the App and our services • To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited information with third-party service providers that help operate the App, such as subscription infrastructure (Adapty), the app stores (Apple App Store / Google Play) and anonymous usage analytics (Google Firebase). If you use sync, your encrypted library is stored in your own Apple iCloud or Google Drive account. That storage is provided to you by Apple or Google, not shared with us. When you view a save inside Furl, the platform that hosts it (for example YouTube or Instagram) provides the embedded player or page directly, as described in "Viewing Saves in Furl". These third parties are obligated to keep information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.
Your library lives on your device and is protected by your device's own security. Sync files and backups are encrypted with AES-256 before they leave your device. Where data is transmitted (e.g. fetching link previews, syncing, subscription management), we use encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because your library is stored on your device, you are always in control of it: • Access & Export — You can view and export your saved links at any time from Settings. • Deletion — You can delete individual saves, categories, or the entire App (which removes your local data). • Sync — You can turn off iCloud sync in iOS Settings or disconnect Google Drive at any time, and delete the sync file from your cloud storage as described above. If you are located in the EU or EEA, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact us to exercise them.
Where data is processed by service providers (e.g. link preview fetching, subscription management, or Apple and Google when you use sync), it may be processed in countries outside of your country of residence. In such cases, appropriate measures are taken to ensure information remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
Our App is not intended for direct use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to securely delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of the policy and notify you through the App or other means.
